1. How can I go to my hotel when I arrive in Istanbul?

Please make sure you send us a copy of your Hostel Reservation so we can take you directly to your temporary housing. Make sure you have the hostel’s local phone number so we can reach you at all times.

2. Should I change any money at the airport?

Bank and other Exchange offices at the airport charge a 4% commision rate that will cost you a lot if you decide to change all of your money. It is best to exchange only a limited amount of money at the airport – $100 or Euros. This amount should be enough to last until we show you where to exchange the remainder of your cash at a better rate outside of the airport and in the city.

3. Is anyone going to pick me up at the airport?

Airport Pick-Ups will be arranged as soon as you send us your itinerary. We ask for you to arrive in Turkey as soon as you can upon completion of the Work Visa process so that we have enough time to arrange your contract, housing, phones, etc...

- There is a single, large exit from the baggage area of the Ataturk airport where you must immediately turn either left or right. Turn LEFT to meeting point 1 (next to AVEA).

- You will be picked up by a member of our team at the airport, just look for the Teachers in Turkey sign. Expect to wait as there are probably a few other people arriving at the same time as you.

4. Is Turkey much different than where I come from?

Your First Few Days in Turkey are novel, and can be culturally quite different from your home town or country but we want you to be assured that we are here to make your adjustment as easy as possible. Be sure to make contact with Teachers in Turkey to arrange an appointment for a meet and greet at the office where we can get to know you, collect your documents and put you in touch with other teachers in your area so you don't feel alone.

- Make sure you bring your original documents when you come to the office.

- We will answer and explain any questions about the contract you may have when we meet with you at the office and help you with your Turkish phone and permanent housing.
